REALLY?  Is that what you heard too?

I checked my inbox this morning and what did I find?  An email telling ME  that Making Money Online Is Easy!? YEAH OKAY!  As someone who makes a living teaching others how to start online businesses and succeed in these  businesses through eCommerce, SEO/SEM and PPC…. I had to LAUGH at this statement.

I am sorry…but there is nothing over the top “EASY” about using internet technologies and software if you have never used them before.  Not if you are properly researching and analyzing keyword searches, conducting product research, developing products, setting up effective product delivery and commerce tools, designing and managing websites, getting traffic, and increasing conversions of sales.

Yes, you can be taught the skills – and then once you understand them they can be easy…

Even if the tools you use are user friendly – - there is always a learning curve to get to know them – and if you want to use them like advanced internet marketers do – there is a much higher learning curve as well!

But it’s always work!  TIME MUST BE INVESTED on an ongoing basis.

So please take all of these “Making Money Online Is Easy” emails with a grain of salt.

Let me show you what that sort of email looks like (so you can keep your eyes open for it).  This is an excerpt from the one I got today:

I am about to shock you with a cold hard truth.

Making money online is easy. And especially…

Making money from {URL REMOVED} is extremely easy (of course if you know how to do things right)

You heard it right! But wait, let skip all the usual hype and cut straight to the chase, because there really isn’t any time to waste.

BLAH BLAH BLAH!  The only reason I even opened the email is because the subject line sounded like it came from a real human…it said “Holy Crap It Actually Worked!”…Silly me.

Anyhow…I will be the first to say that even though some people I’ve personally coached now earn $20k – $500k per month online – NEVER once did I see it happen OVERNIGHT!  Nor was it easy or EXTREMELY EASY like it stated in that email!  In fact some of those same people were ready to throw in the towel MANY times on their way up!

Yet they knew the investment they made to be coached by someone who’s been there and helped others get there and they knew that part of that commitment was to TRUST in what I was saying.

….6 months down the road, the fundamentals of starting an internet business and growing an internet business didn’t change…the same research, SEO, SEM, PPC and overall marketing online, the same testing and tracking were STILL being done…but they were FINALLY generating over $10k per month. 18 months down the road, there were reports of $500K per month.

BUT HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

Not because it was EASY!  (Even though SOME elements were).  NOR because someone shared a link to an affiliate product that made them millions online overnight either. It also was NOT because someone had a magic bullet “technique” to getting online and making it all possible.

It was because the research and commitment were there and the work was put in!!!

Admittedly it’s easier for them  now, sure!  They are finally making the money they so desired!  They are finally able to step away from the business and reduce their hours of involvement when desired.  But they PUT THE TIME IN! They learned the necessary skills.  They dedicated months of themselves to perfect and improve.  They had a NEVER GIVE UP attitude despite any roadblocks that came their way!  Work was always being done. And it still is.

So what are your best chances to making money online?

First of all if you are one of the lucky recipients of an “Making Money Online Is Easy” email….PLEASE be cautious about the claims.  Please do your due diligence and look into the product; match it up against REAL searches being done online and REAL competitors – - ask yourself if YOU think it’s realistic that YOU could see the same numbers with very little effort?
