My son (author of the above NOTE TO THE TOOTH FAIRY) is addicted to his iPod Touch, his PSP, PS3 and all of the great little adventures that come along with each. But his favorite by far is the iPod. He WOULD spend every waking hour on it – if we let him…but of course…as parents (and myself as an entrepreneur) we would prefer that he get outside, play sports and more important… earn/save money and spend wisely.
Unfortunately for him over the last year or so, he’s become consumed by allergies that regularly debilitate him. It seems that most days his only relief/distraction from allergies comes from lying on the couch, heavily medicated, with a face mask on and his iPod in hand. For these reasons – I feel completely justified in supporting his habit. I also have to admit that most of the applications you can get on your iPod are incredibly well done.
He orders/reads books, listens to music, plays games (even brain challenges), stays in touch with his friends on facebook and other great social apps. Overall – his experiences on this little handheld miracle give him life. Despite what many other parents say…my son has a life through his iPod, when he would otherwise have difficulty outdoors like all the other kids.
Granted, there are GREAT days for our son – where the outdoors are NOT his enemy, where he is the MVP of his football, basketball and soccer team….and where you would NEVER KNOW that he struggles through sinus, head and stomach aches.
And for the majority of his life, those GREAT days were all he had. But for now, the iPod Touch is a fantastic back up. He’s happy and his mind is still being used, even when his body can’t be. Thank you iPod! Even though you are clearly causing alarm for the Tooth Fairy dear App Store, we are grateful for your existence.
**Do you have a “Tooth Fairy” in your business? Perhaps an old method to marketing or communicating with customers that USED to Payout well but could NOW use an update?
It may be time to listen to your customers a little closer. Perhaps learning what they want TODAY is exactly the change you need to make to keep them happy and increase those sales you have been concerned about lately.
